Watering your lawn
It's important to water your lawn correctly. This will both, save you money on your water bill, and promote healthy root growth.
Really easy. When you water your lawn, soak the soil to five inches down. The easiest way of measuring is to bury a coffee can in the yard, and fill it to five inches with the sprinkler system. NEVER do this more than twice a week! When the surface dries out, the tap roots will stretch downward and become much more hardy for the summer months. As a special note, don't water grass that has gone dormant due to heat. It has gone dormant to preserve energy. It will come back. Watering too much will hurt the plants. A good soak every two weeks will suffice during dormancy in the summer.
